29 January 2021: Pricing and specifications for the 2021 Maserati Ghibli have been announced.
Maserati's smallest model has received a number of styling and technology updates for Model Year 2021, intended to "give the entire Maserati range a unified identity" and bring the Ghibli up to date with its German rivals – alongside significant price changes across the range.
Up front, the grille has seen an update – featuring with chrome trim on GranLusso models and black on the sportier GranSport – while at the rear new LED 'boomerang' tail-lights with have been introduced, with GranSport and 'Black Pack' equipped variants tinting the light housings for a sportier look.
Inside, the central infotainment screen has been enlarged from 8.4 to 10.1 inches in size across the range, and now features slimmer, frameless bezels "for a more contemporary look". The screen runs Maserati's latest Android Automotive-based infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Behind the steering wheel sits a reworked instrument cluster, comprising analog speedometer and tachometer dials flanking a new 7.0-inch TFT display.
On the safety front, all MY21 Ghibli variants score Active Driving Assist, which works with the adaptive cruise control to centre the car in its lane and maintain a safe distance from the car in front, on "any well-maintained road" at speeds of up to 145km/h.
Aside from the aforementioned additions, standard equipment on the base 'Ghibli' includes 19-inch alloy wheels, quad exhaust tips and bi-xenon headlights.
Ghibli GranLusso grades add adaptive LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels (or 20-inch units on S GranLusso models, as pictured), chrome front bumper accents, body-coloured side skirts, black brake calipers, an Ermenegildo Zegna interior (with silk seat inserts) and soft-close doors.
Over the entry-level model, the sporty GranSport adds adaptive LED headlights, sportier front and rear bumpers with black accents, 20-inch polished alloy wheels, body-coloured side skirts, GranSport badging, red brake calipers, sports seats, a sports steering wheel and paddle shifters.
Two powertrains are offered across the standard Ghibli range.
The entry-level motor – available in base, GranLusso and GranSport forms – is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, sending 257kW of power and 500Nm of torque to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Maserati claims a 5.5-second sprint from zero to 100km/h, towards a 267km/h top speed.
Ghibli S models – available with GranLusso and GranSport 'packages' – up outputs of the base car's 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 to 321kW and 580Nm, fed to the rear tyres through the same eight-speed auto. A 4.9-second 0-100km/h time is claimed, as is a 286km/h top speed.
2.0-litre mild-hybrid four-cylinder 'Hybrid' models arrived in April, following the launch of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 'Trofeo' in March.
The 2021 Maserati Ghibli range is now on sale.
