Elon Musk: Tesla Cybertruck deliveries could begin this year

While the majority of Cybertrucks are expected to hit the road in 2022, Elon Musk has confirmed early examples could be delivered by the end of this year.

The first Tesla Cybertruck deliveries could begin before the end of this year, according to company founder and CEO Elon Musk.

Speaking to the press following Tesla's fourth-quarter sales report, Musk confirmed engineering for the project had been finalised and the brand was now focused on production logistics.

“If we get lucky we’ll be able to do a few deliveries towards the end of this year, however we expect volume production to begin in 2022”, he declared.

While recent speculation has suggested production delays were likely, the latest announcement reaffirms the initial development timeline confirmed following the Cybertruck’s 2019 launch, when a late 2021 production start date was announced.

However, it remains unclear what future – if any – the Cybertruck has in Australia. While local consumers can currently put down a fully-refundable $150 deposit towards the vehicle, a local launch has yet to be officially confirmed by Tesla Australia.

CarAdvice has approached Tesla for comment. This story will be updated with its response.
