Black Furai goes Green

We've had a few pics of the Mazda Furai up on the site now, but this one's a little different. Based on the Le Man series Courage C65, this example is technically speaking, a green car.

Running on bioethanol, the tri-rotor engine produces 336kW and manages a top speed of 290km/h.

The two seater's paint work was inspired by Mazda's 1991 Le Man 24 Hour winning 787B and features ultra slippery aerodynamics which not only improve downforce and handling but also help it remain as sleek as possible, drastically improving efficiency.

Not expected to ever reach the track or production on any official level the Furai will make an appearance at the Detroit Motor Show next week and will then be used as a 'test bed' vehicle for on-going development.
