The 2021 Porsche Boxster 25 Years limited-edition variant has been officially unveiled in Europe – ahead of an Australian arrival in April – in celebration of the mid-engined two-seater sports car’s quarter-century anniversary.

Based on the standard GTS 4.0, the new limited-edition 718 Boxster is powered by a 4.0-litre six-cylinder horizontally-opposed "boxer" engine producing 294kW/420Nm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed Porsche PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, launching the vehicle to a claimed top speed of 293km/h.

Drive

The PDK gearbox option affords a slightly quicker zero to 100km/h time, completing the sprint in a claimed 4.0 seconds.

A Bordeaux leather interior is paired with an embossed red fabric convertible top, in tribute to the original 1993 concept (and subsequent 1996 production model).

The car also has front and side intake highlights in a reinterpreted bronze “Neodyme" colour, similarly referencing the original concept (bottom, alongside the modern car).

Drive

Principle colour options comprise Silver Metallic, Deep Black Metallic, and Carrara White Metallic.

Standard features include an Aluminium interior package, 14-way electrically adjustable sports seats, door sill trims with "Boxster 25" lettering, and a heated GT multifunction sports leather steering wheel.

Auto-dimming mirrors, automatic rain sensors, seat heating, lane change assist, cruise control, park assist, reversing camera, interior surveillance, two-zone automatic climate control, and Apple CarPlay also come standard on all Australian-delivered models.

Drive

The first production version of the Boxster was launched in 1996, and, after delivery of more than 357,000 units, the model is now in its fourth generation.

Just 1250 examples of the new limited-edition car will be produced, however the exact number coming to Australia is unclear.

The first examples are slated to arrive in locally in April 2021, priced from $183,900 plus on-road costs.
