2021 Renault Megane RS price and specs: Updated hot hatch offered in Trophy form only

Turbo hot hatch gains new equipment, simplified range for 2021.

  • 2021 Renault Megane RS price and specs unveiled
  • Trophy model only available
  • Larger digital screens new for 2021
  • Prices up by $500, from $53,900 plus on-road costs to $56,990 plus on-road costs

Pricing and specifications for the updated 2021 Renault Megane RS have been announced, ahead of its Australian arrival in March.

Renault's turbocharged hot hatch – which will be offered in hi-po RS Trophy guise only for 2021, with the 'entry-level' RS Sport and Cup grades axed – benefits from an array of upgrades for the new year, as part of its mid-life facelift unveiled overseas in early 2020, headlined by new lighting signatures.

New features for Model Year 2021 include a larger 9.3-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen (up from 8.7 inches), a 10-inch digital instrument cluster (up from 7.0 inches), a new shark-fin roof antenna and the addition of low-speed autonomous emergency braking.

Despite the additional equipment, pricing is only up by $500 for the new year.

The aforementioned items join an already-expansive array of standard equipment, including LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring, a limited-slip front differential and more.

Buyers not content with the Trophy's standard equipment list can option a panoramic sunroof, as well as a new Performance Package comprising Recaro bucket seats and 'Fuji' 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

Powering the RS Trophy is the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as before, developing 221kW of power.

Torque is rated at 400Nm with the standard-fit six-speed manual transmission, or 420Nm with the optional six-speed 'EDC' dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2021 Renault Megane RS will go on sale in Australia in March.

  • Megane RS Trophy manual – $53,990 (up $500)
  • Megane RS Trophy EDC auto – $56,990 (up $500)
