Video: 2022 Volkswagen Transporter T7 spied in testing

The 2022 Volkswagen Transporter T7 has been caught testing at the track.

Volkswagen has been driving the new-generation Transporter before an expected unveiling later this year, which will use an all-new platform featuring both hybrid and fully-electric powertrain options.

Spies from YouTube channel CarSpyMedia filmed the all-new van going through its paces recently at the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

Despite the updated Transporter T6.1 being announced in August 2020, the current model is a heavily-updated iteration of the T5, which first debuted in 2003.

A curious render has also been leaked online, which hints at the next-gen Transporter following a similar design path to that of its smaller sibling, the recently-released Caddy.

While the origin of the illustration isn't known exactly, it's thought the image could be an early teaser, set to be released by Volkswagen to raise interest ahead of the van's release.

The all-new Transporter is expected to be unveiled in late 2021 before launching in Europe in 2022, though it's likely the new model won't land on Australian shores until late 2022 or early 2023.
