It also features a flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel, manual air conditioning, a four-speaker sound system, three USB ports (one front, two rear), a 'remote' key, push-button start, front reading lights, power-adjustable non-heated mirrors and an anti-theft alarm.
A full suite of active safety technologies, badged under the brand's MG Pilot suite, are standard-fit, including autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, traffic-jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, door opening warning, high-beam assist and traffic-sign recognition.
Powering the MG HS Core is the same 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the rest of the range, sending 124kW of power and 250Nm of torque to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The entry-level Core retains higher grades' five-star ANCAP safety rating and seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
The 2021 MG HS Core is now available for pre-order, ahead of first customer deliveries in mid-January.
