2021 McLaren new cars: The incoming supercars to look out for

All-new nameplates are either confirmed or rumoured for the revered supercar manufacturer in 2021.

McLaren cars are a niche proposition at the best of times and yet, despite a financially difficult year for many, the marque managed to somewhat maintain its sales foothold in 2020, only losing around 25 per cent of ground.

As of November 2020, McLaren had managed to shift 59 cars compared to the 79 it sold in the same period the year prior.

The hallmark arrival of 2020 was the McLaren Speedtail Hyper-GT, a hybrid hypercar that's the fastest McLaren car ever and the first car in the world to rely solely on wireless charging.

McLaren also launched its 765LT, a track-focussed, road-legal supercar with a top speed of 330km/h, with the brand announcing in September 2020 that the entire allocation of the 765LT had been spoken for.

Otherwise, locally, McLaren's line-up consists of a small handful of cars, but a slate of new arrivals is expected for 2021.

In November 2020, it was confirmed the brand would launch a hybrid supercar named the Artura in the first half of 2021.

Possibly joining the Artura as part of the brand's global line-up is a model believed to be called the Sabre, rumoured to be a successor to the Senna and powered by a hybrid powertrain.

Finally, production for the company's incoming open-top project, the Elva – its lightest road-legal car ever – has faced delays throughout 2020, but deliveries were slated to commence at the end of the year.

"At this stage, Artura is the only model we can confirm in the first half of 2021. We should be able to share more information on Elva early next year," a McLaren Australia spokesperson told CarAdvice.
