2021 Alpine new cars

Alpine hasn't exactly enjoyed a stellar 2020, selling just five examples so far this year of its lone model, the gorgeous and totally charming A110 mid-engined coupe.

Yet, the French brand could be about to experience a renaissance. While little has been confirmed for 2021, the fact that parent company Renault is rebranding its Formula One team to Alpine, suggests a portfolio soon to expand.

That expansion could include a re-branding of Renault's performance division, from Renault Sport to Alpine. And that means we soon could be seeing Alpine Clio and Alpine Megane high-performance models on our roads, replacing Clio RS and Megane RS.

Plus, earlier this year, rumours surfaced of a jacked-up, off-road version of the Alpine A110 coupe, and while the idea might seem a little ludicrous, subsequent patent filings by the French company suggest the Alpine A110 SportsX could become a reality. Interesting.
