85-year-old arrested for Street Racing

Now you might say we're ganging up on older drivers, or that I just happen to enjoy the use of this photo, but I found this snippet of news a tad interesting when it's younger guys who are normally pegged as street racers.

An 85-year-old Canadian man has become the oldest person in the country to be charged with street racing after being caught at 100 mph (161km/h) in a 55 mph (88km/h) zone.

Perhaps not strictly racing - but it gets better.

The elderly gentlemen flew past a fully marked black and white (highway patrol car) on the icy Ontario freeway and when signalled to pull over began accelerating and changing lanes in an apparent effort to evade the pursuing Officer.

When finally pulled over several kilometres later the geriatric gentleman could only say "God damn" at being told his radar-detected speed and offered a trip to the bank as his only explanation for the escapade.

In accordance with Canada's strict new street racing legislation he was fined, had his license revoked and his vehicle impounded. So much for old drivers being safe drivers!
