2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Ti unveiled for Europe
The 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Ti has debuted for Europe, joining its 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Ti relative – however, it's not coming to Australia.
The Stelvio Veloce Ti – the Ti badge (also used by BMW) standing for Turismo Internationale, Italian for 'international touring' – aim to add some of the hi-po Stelvio Quadrifoglio's performance flavour to lesser versions of Alfa Romeo's maiden SUV.
The Veloce Ti can be differentiated from lesser Stelvio models via its revised exterior styling, with upgrades including standard-fit gloss black trim, lower air intakes from the Quadrifoglio (devoid of fog lights), a revised rear bumper with a more aggressive diffuser insert and 21-inch five-hole alloy wheels – a first for the Stelvio.
Inside, the sub-Quadrifoglio flagship borrows its bigger brother's leather/Alcantara-trimmed sports seats – though the Quadrifoglio's Sparco carbon-fibre buckets remain exclusive to the 375kW flagship – complemented by red contrast stitching, black headlining, carbon fibre trim inlays and Alfa Romeo logos embossed into the headrests.
Other highlights include carbon-fibre-look mirror caps, tinted windows, aluminium paddle shifters and 'Stelvio', 'Q4' and 'Veloce Ti' badging.
European customers will be presented a choice between two engines: a 206kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder, or a 154kW/470Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder.
Both drive all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and Alfa's 'Q4' all-wheel-drive system.
The Stelvio Veloce Ti joins the Italian brand's line-up alongside the existing Giulia Veloce Ti, which shares the crossover's interior upgrades, and differs from lesser Giulia models externally via black trim and the addition of a black rear lip spoiler borrowed from the Quadrifoglio.
The wider Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio line-up have also seen a minor update for model-year-2021, with changes including Euro 6d certification for all available powertrains, new alloy wheel designs up to 21 inches in diameter, and support for an array of connected car services, including a 'My Alfa Connect' smartphone app.
The 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Ti is now available to order in Europe, as part of the wider MY21 Giulia and Stelvio range.
However, the sport-themed model isn't bound for Australian shores, the brand's local arm has confirmed.
The standard 2021 Stelvio – featuring the updates unveiled in late 2019, rather than those detailed above – is due to land in showrooms in the first quarter of 2021, while the similarly-updated Giulia is now on sale.
