2021 Lexus UX price and specs: Price cuts and upgraded tech

The 2021 Lexus UX has received a range of updates for the new model year, accompanied by price changes across the range.

  • 2021 Lexus UX updated for 2021
  • Price cuts across the range
  • Quieter cabin, upgraded safety and more space

In showrooms now, Lexus's smallest SUV has received an array of tweaks to its driving experience, safety suite and interior comfort.

The entry-level 2021 UX 200 Luxury – powered by a carry-over 126kW/205Nm, 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine – is now priced from $44,445 before on-road costs – a $2055 price reduction over 2020 pricing.

Lexus attributes the price cut to a reduction in the Luxury's roster of standard equipment, moving LED fog lamps, roof rails, parking support brake, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, keyless entry and DAB+ digital radio to a new $1980 'Enhancement Pack 1'.

Drive

Option the aforementioned package and the UX 200 Luxury's price will increase to $46,425 – a $75 net saving over the equivalent 2020 model.

Alongside the UX 200's $2055 cut, all other variants have seen price reductions from $75 to $325. The existing Enhancement Packs 1 and 2 have been renamed 2 and 3, allowing for the new $1980 pack at the lower end of the range.

Changes to the UX for 2021 don't simply consist of equipment reductions, however.

Revisions to the internals of the UX's continuously-variable transmission (CVT) have created a smoother transition between the mechanical first gear and the belt-driven main ratio, delivering a "smoother drive when starting off and coming to a halt", while recalibrated powertrain control electronics have enabled more refined and responsive acceleration.

Drive

Inside, additional sound deadening materials and thicker insulation in key areas of the boot floor have reduced the amount of noise entering the cabin.

In the boot, a lower floor height in UX 200 petrol models has increased boot capacity by 50 to 90 litres, for totals of 419 or 424 litres in cars with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels respectively.

Hybrid UX 250h variants – powered by the same 131kW, 2.0-litre hybrid system as before – gain a new double deck-tray, increasing boot capacity by four to 44 litres depending on variant, to a shared total of 368 litres.

Drive

Bolstering the UX's active safety suite – which already includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, and more – is an expanded traffic-sign detection system, now capable of reading 40km/h school zone signs.

Other updates include two USB-C ports for the rear seats, replacing the existing USB-A outlets.

The 2021 Lexus UX is now on sale. A full list of each variant's pricing and standard equipment details can be found below.
