Around the tracks: The world’s most enthusiastic car salesman

Plus, the ultimate Pagani configurator, a truly bizarre homemade handbrake and a boat burnout.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. This hilariously enthusiastic Dodge salesman

It's been a rough year for car dealers and it appears some of them are resorting to ever more creative tactics to shift stock.

Take Brody Anthony Michael Elder, a salesman at a Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership in the US state of Indiana.

Young Brody isn't content with just listing a car's standard equipment and safety features – no, he wants to really sell it to you.

The charismatic salesman posts short videos on social media platform TikTok to promote cars like the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which he jokes "has red seat belts dyed with the blood of Mustang owners".

It's an aggressive yet hilarious tactic and, surprisingly, somewhat convincing.

You can watch a compilation of his videos below.

2. Pagani's elaborate new Huayra Roadster BC configurator

Even if you can't afford to get behind the wheel of Pagani's latest supercar, the Huayra Roadster BC, you'll be able to spend several hours playing with the model's dedicated online configurator.

Priced around AUD$5 million, it's not exactly attainable for the average person, but if you head to this page you'll be able to customise everything from the brake caliper colour to the bonnet stripes.

Then you can watch playback of cinematic video footage of your creation in action and even save a high-res image of your efforts to your desktop.

Here's my attempt (naturally, I went as bright as possible):

3. This hectic modified handbrake spotted by UK police

Look, we're all for project cars here at CarAdvice and fully endorse having a bit of fun with at-home modifications, provided it's safe.

However, one car owner in the UK might have taken things a little too far when tinkering with their Mazda MX-5.

Police in Horsham, Sussex, pulled the car over for drifting and driving "antisocially" in the early hours of the morning, only to find that its interior was full of whacky, questionable modifications.

These included a removable steering wheel, a giant metal handbrake and plenty of exposed wiring. Images of the car's interior also show a fire extinguisher on the floor.

Needless to say, police prohibited the car for being driven until it receives a full MOT – the UK equivalent of a roadworthy.

4. This boat doing a burnout

This is an old video, but my colleague Ben Zachariah uncovered it on the depths of the internet and decided to share.

Some background, courtesy of the original poster:

"Bit of background into the shenanigans that are bestowed before you. Myself and a group of friends love buying random out of the box cars to go do up and compete in burnout competitions. The more outrageous the better. We have done a Jeep Grand Cherokee that we ended up bolting a truck turbo to that ended up exploding into a fireball, a 1983 F250 LWB truck, Lexus LS400 all sorts of cars.

"Anyway, the boat burnout was done at Renmark Riverland revs comp. The boat is made up of a Ford EL Falcon sedan with a fiberglass boat hull bolted on. The end result is a hilarious looking burnout car that the entire Australian car community has fallen in love with."

5. An ode to the late Diego Maradona and his love – or otherwise – of Ferraris

The sporting world lost an icon this week with the death of football legend Diego Maradona at the age of 60.

The Argentinian star, who played in four FIFA World Cups, might have been celebrated for his athletic prowess, but we'll always remember him for his taste in cars.

During the 1980s when he was playing for Napoli, Maradona owned a Ferrari Testarossa in black – an incredibly rare find given the Testarossa's trademark red shade.

Later, he sought to acquire a black Ferrari F40, but legend has it he was disappointed when his special request finally arrived – because it didn't have radio or air conditioning.

His ex-manager recalled the following...

"I managed to get the black Ferrari, and at that time was unimaginable to have one in black. We brought it up to Diego and he started looking around inside it.

"I said to him: 'What's wrong? and he asked me 'Where's the stereo?'. I told him: 'What stereo?! It doesn't have a stereo... it's a sports car, it doesn't have a stereo, it doesn't have air conditioning, it doesn't have any of that. So Diego responded: 'Well, in that case they can shove it up their arse'!"
