Renault Zoe Z.E. Concept to be the basis for upcoming production EV

You may remember the Renault Zoe Z.E. Concept from the Frankfurt Auto Show earlier this year, well, apparently this extravagant design will be the basis for an upcoming all-electric vehicle to join Renault's showroom.

Although it probably won't feature those wild Gullwing-style doors or the twin rear hatch doors, the fundamentals and the dimensions are going to be similar.

The car is said to be 4.1 metres in length, featuring huge-looking 21 inch wheels in contrast to the somewhat stubby body.

Underneath the bonnet of the concept is an electric motor offering 71kW of power and 225Nm of torque. It's unknown if this will be the basis for production version as well we'll have to wait for more information to be released.

Production is expected to being in 2012.
