BMW Motorrad has launched its Concept Definition CE 04 all-electric scooter at the #NEXTGen 2020 conference.
The two-wheeler is based on BMW’s 2017 Concept Link design, and features an integrated 10.25-inch smartphone connective display system.
The flat battery – packaged in the base of the frame – allows for a low centre of gravity and “playful handling."
The design also incorporates extensive storage space, with a focus placed on ergonomics over comfort.
No powertrain or battery details have yet been announced, however range in unlikely to be particularly impressive.
A press release from BMW Motorrad says “the target group mainly rides short distances of approximately 12 km per day.”
The final production product is expected to look very similar to the concept, and a series variant will likely come onto the market in the next few years.
Pricing will be released closer to launch.
Anime fans will also note, the low-slung seating position, rear axle design, and extended foot sills, are reminiscent of the iconic motorcycle featured in 1980s' Japanese post-apocalyptic cyberpunk film Akira. (I haven't seen it, but Stevo made me mention it...) (Damn right I did! – Stevo)
