Peugeot Museum to restore and sell classic models
While you can still buy a 1988 Peugeot 405 new in some parts of the world, now you can have your 1988 Peugeot 405 restored to as-new condition by the world’s best.
To celebrate 210 years of the French brand, the Peugeot Museum will offer a bespoke restoration service for iconic vehicles, to be carried out by the museum’s own workshop technicians.
Where parts don’t exist, they will be recreated using modern 3D printing techniques, or by engaging historical suppliers.
Completed vehicles will be presented with a certificate of authenticity and offered for sale on the Museum’s website.
Kicking things off, will be a black Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9.
The iconic hot hatch will serve as a demonstration of the restoration activity, and act as a showcase of the skilled workers involved,
The restoration program is similar to those offered by Ferrari Classiche and BMW, in allowing privately owned vehicles to be subjected to an as-new factory restoration.
German tuner Brabus also offers this for classic Mercedes-Benz models.
The project is supported by the expansive Peugeot / Citroen parts inventory, and L’Aventure Peugeot Museum online catalogue and store.
You can browse by model then category to explore over 100 remanufactured parts and 16,000 new-old-stock items.
Pricing isn’t too bad, with a set of yellow-lens lower fog lamps (my favourite!) for a 505 coming in at €79 ($130).
Completed ‘new’ classic Peugeot models will be online from early next year.
