Volvo recalls XC60 SUV with potential windshield wiper fault

According to Volvo, the front windshield wiper arm was not tightened sufficiently during manufacturing.

Volvo Australia has issued a recall on 9388 examples of the XC60 SUV, noting “the front windshield wiper arm nut was not tightened sufficiently during manufacturing”.

The affected vehicles are Model Years 2018-2020, and were sold between 1 September 2017 and 27 August 27 2020.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says “if the front windshield wiper becomes loose, it may cause an unusual noise if the windshield wiper arm should contact the edge of the bonnet.

“This could lead to reduced or no wiping function which reduces visibility and could increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users.

“In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.”

CarAdvice has contact Volvo Australia to check if it has reported any incidents locally. We will update this story with its response.
