Touring AMG's new, tough little SUV.
Mercedes-AMG has widened its product range, introducing a lower-powered, more affordable tier of performance vehicle.
This move has brought changes the trio of new A-Class, CLA-Class and GLA-Class products, with the introduction of new '35' AMG versions.
These lower-powered performance models have become the new entry point, sitting beneath the more-powerful 45, and 45 S variants.
The most affordable small SUV of the Mercedes-AMG family, known as the GLA 35, is priced from $82,935 before on roads.
Despite not employing the full-bottle, hand-built AMG power plant, the GLA 35's numbers are still strong. A revamped Mercedes-Benz 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is used in the GLA 35, producing 225kW and 400Nm.
The small performance SUV space remains a niche, with competition coming from one other car – the BMW X2 M35i. It produces an identical 225kW, but more torque, at 450Nm.
