Aftermarket BMW M3 and M4 grilles and bumper set for production
German specialist reimagines what M3 and M4 siblings could look like.
German aftermarket specialist, Prior Design, has taken the wraps off - via YouTube - its in-house redesigned front grille and bumper for the newly-released BMW M3 and M4 siblings.
The M halo cars aroused much controversy when revealed to the public earlier this year, the large, vertical kidney grille dominating the front fascia and drawing criticism from car enthusiast and automotive media alike.
While social media was flooded with reimaginings from those handy with Photoshop, Prior Design’s proposals should be taken a little more seriously, the German aftermarket company specialising in the design, development and sale of aerodynamic parts, alloy wheels and high-end exhaust systems. Previous work includes designing and manufacturing body kits for BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, Lamborghini and Ferrari, among others.
While Prior’s proposal remains a design study at this stage, a spokesperson told online media outlet The Drive, that “As the feedback regarding this design was very positive, we are probably going to produce and release this bumper for sale in the future.”
One Prior Design proposal for the M3 would see the controversial grille reduced in size to roughly half, and housed inside a new front fascia that also includes a new bumper and air intake.
Another proposal takes the current and actual front of the BMW M8 Competition and applies it to the M3’s front, complete with black grille and carbon-fibre accents.
Prior Design showed several proposals, based on the same theme. None used BMW's original 'beaver-toothed' design.
