As Australia heads into the summer holiday season, sales of all-purpose 4x4 vehicles like the Toyota LandCruiser Prado are soaring – and for good reason.

But while others are shopping around for the perfect family utility vehicle, you could skip the queue by entering to win a brand new Toyota LandCruiser Prado Kakadu without even setting foot in a dealership.

Channel Nine’s Today Show is currently running a competition where one lucky entrant could take home the top-spec Prado variant, plus a Jayco Journey Outback Caravan, worth a collective $173,000.

The car up for grabs is the 2021 Prado, bestowed with more power and more torque (20kW/50Nm more, to be precise) for the new model-year.

Typically, the all-wheel-drive LandCruiser Prado Kakadu is priced from $87,030 before on-road costs, with the range consistently ranking as the best-selling upper large SUV in Australia.

With seating for seven people, adaptive variable suspension, rear air suspension with auto levelling, crawl control, rear-seat entertainment and three-zone climate control, it's also an ideal off-road adventurer and practical family hauler.

The 150kW/500Nm, 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission offer improved performance, but without sacrificing fuel economy, with Toyota promising 7.9L/100km on a combined cycle.

The 2021 Prado also now offers a host of modern technologies, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 9.0-inch infotainment screen, satellite navigation and a reversing camera.

The updated safety technology on offer in the Prado Kakadu is similarly comprehensive, with autonomous emergency braking (with daytime cyclist recognition and round-the-clock pedestrian detection), lane-keep assist, active cruise control and road sign recognition.

On top of the standard features, Today is also throwing in around $11,000 worth of genuine Toyota accessories including an alloy bullbar, a Sunseeker roof awning, a tow bar, a snorkel and a UHF in-car radio.

The full terms and conditions can be viewed here, but to enter you simply need to text your full name and address (suburb, state, postcode) to 199 59 900 before 12pm AEDT on Friday October 30, 2020.

You can enter as many times as you want, so get texting. We wish you a merry Prado.
