Promotional Ford Mustang to be auctioned for charity

A Mustang that once raced Marcos Ambrose in a NASCAR, and Dick Johnson in a V8 Supercar, is for sale.

Shannons are auctioning a Ford Mustang that was once used for Supercar Championship promotional duties.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Camp Quality, a children's charity that supports kids aged 0-13 with cancer.

The 'Velocity Blue' V8 manual example was originally used by Ford Australia as a media evaluation vehicle. It was factory-specified with 19-inch forged aluminium wheels, adaptive suspension and Recaro seats.

Once decommissioned as a press car, the team at Herrod Performance modified the Mustang, before handing it over to reigning Supercar champion, Scott McLaughlin.

Unique exterior graphics, a half-roll cage complete with a rear seat delete and aftermarket front, rear wheel hubs were all installed before it hit the track at the 2019 Adelaide 500.

The car took part in a pre-race event called the 'Ford Performance Challenge', which saw three different Mustangs take part in a one-lap race.

This very car could be considered a good luck charm, as McLaughlin went on to give the Mustang Supercar a victory on its racing debut that same weekend.

The Ford Mustang is sold unregistered, but will comes with an engineering certificate for roadworthy purposes. Shannons expect it to sell in the region of $55,000 to $75,000.

The auction is live now. Online bids close at 7:00PM EST, on Wednesday the 28th of October.
