Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior is go! Dealers told to expect flagship 4WD next year

Hardcore off-road fans may finally get the four-wheel-drive wagon they’ve been wishing for, with the locally-developed Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior scheduled to go on sale next year.

While Nissan is yet to publicly confirm the vehicle has been signed off, dealers who participated in a confidential meeting about future model plans were shown a teaser image of what the Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior might look like.

While the leaked image is blurry and lacks detail, it appears Nissan is serious about introducing a locally-developed Warrior version of the Patrol V8.

It is unclear if the image is of a final version of the Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior or simply a design study, however the vehicle in the image appears to be fitted with a hoopless bullbar with tapered corners, similar to the front bar on the Navara Warrior.

While the Nissan Patrol Warrior's petrol V8 is not likely to get any more power due to the cost of a new round of emissions testing and approvals, it is expected to receive heavy duty suspension, off-road tyres, over-fender flares, a bullbar, heavy duty recovery points, and unique badging.

Price is yet to be confirmed but the Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior is expected to cost in excess of $100,000 given the current flagship tops out at $92,790 plus on-road costs.

According to the dealer bulletin, the Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior is due some time through 2021, alongside a new-generation Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Pathfinder.

In the meantime, news of the Nissan Patrol V8 Warrior comes as the updated Patrol enjoys record sales as Australians plan to holiday at home in the wake of the coronavirus crisis and overseas travel restrictions.

As reported earlier this month, sales of the Nissan Patrol and Toyota LandCruiser have bucked the overall market trend of a 20.5 per cent slowdown so far this year.

Sales of the Nissan Patrol are up by 14.6 per cent year-to-date, and the addition of the Warrior is certain to boost its appeal as Toyota prepares to release the next-generation 300 Series LandCruiser, which is rumoured to have V6 power.
