Audi A4 ute conversion listed for sale
This 2004 Audi A4 ute conversion has come onto the market in Illinois, USA.
According to the listing on Bring-A-Trailer, the donor vehicle was acquired in 2017 and subsequently modified using a kit from Smyth Performance.
This included new fibreglass quarter panels, aluminium inner bed surfaces, and structural reinforcements.
Power is derived from a turbocharged 1.8-litre turbo four-cylinder engine, which, when new, produced 132kW. Drive is sent to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
The car has clocked 156,000km since it rolled off Ingolstadt production line 16 years ago.
A Carfax report shows a 2011 accident resulted in substantial damage to the right side of the vehicle, and, according to the seller, the airbag light remains illuminated at all times due to missing rear seat belt pretensioner resistors.
At time of publishing the highest bid sat at US$5900 (approximately AU$8200).
Earlier this year Drive reported on a similar BMW 5 Series DIY ute conversion which had been listed for sale in Russia for more than $40,000.
In 2016, reports surfaced that Audi was weighing up the launch of a commercial pick up based on the Volkswagen Amarok, however these plans never materialised.
