Sales of Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati sports cars hit the accelerator in September as the rest of the car market hit reverse with a 20 per cent decline.
Official figures from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) show Porsche sales increased by 33 per cent in September compared to the same month last year, while Maserati sales more than doubled and deliveries of Ferraris increased by 8.7 per cent.
However, as with the rest of the super-luxury market, all three brands posted sales declines in the year-to-date tally.

The good news wasn’t shared with all exotic or luxury car brands, however, with sales of Lamborghini and Aston Martin both down by 25 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Sales of McLaren fell by 66 per cent, Bentley dropped by 35 per cent and Rolls-Royce scored a duck, with no vehicles reported as sold.
Luxury car dealers are hopeful that new, less strict lending requirements will provide a boost to sales in the coming months.
