2020 Toyota GR Yaris: $44,950 drive-away for the next 100 cars

After the first heavily discounted 1000 units of its 2021 GR Yaris sold out in a matter of days, Toyota has responded by slashing the price of another 100 examples of its new hot hatch.

The GR Yaris is officially priced from $49,500 plus on-road costs, but Toyota is offering another 100 units for pre-sale at $44,950 drive-away – a discount of $4550 even before you factor in on-road costs.

This latest announcement comes after allocations and pre-orders for the initial shipment closed less than a week after pricing was announced due to an overwhelming customer response.

The first 1000 examples were offered to buyers at the drive-away price of $39,950 – representing a discount of $9550 on the recommended retail price.

"We deliberately set out to make GR Yaris attainable for sports-car fans - and I'd have to say that even we were a little surprised at how quickly the first Toyota sports car in more than 20 years ignited the market," Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said.

"At the new price, GR Yaris continues to have a significant price advantage over equivalent performance cars costing more than $50,000," he said.

"It also remains keenly competitive against conventional hot hatches, while having a decided performance advantage."

The GR Yaris is powered by a 1.6-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 200kW and 370Nm, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive.

Interested customers should contact their preferred Toyota dealer for information, as stock availability will vary.

Local deliveries of the 2021 Toyota GR Yaris are expected to commence in November 2020.
