2021 BMW M3 and M4 price and specs

The polarising new high-performance sedan and coupe will arrive in Australia early next year, and start from $144,900 and $149,900 respectively.

  • All-new 2021 BMW M3 and M4 price and specs revealed
  • Offered in standard or Competition configurations
  • Price increases of approximately $3300 across the range
  • Extensive M Performance options list introduced alongside new models

The all-new BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe are set to arrive in Australian showrooms during the first quarter of 2021.

The twin models are powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, producing 353kW/550Nm in entry-level guise. Drive is sent to the rear-wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, allowing a zero to 100km/h acceleration time of 4.2 seconds.

The performance-enhanced Competition variants produce 375kW/650Nm from the same engine block, and get an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. The extra 22kW, 100Nm, and faster gear changes bring the zero to 100km/h launch down to just 3.9 seconds.

The base models are equipped as standard with an M carbon fibre roof and carbon interior highlights, BMW’s Laserlight headlight technology (which allows drivers to see up to 800 metres at night), blue-calliper steel brakes, M active differential and suspension, M sport seats and seat belts, head-up display, ConnectedDrive services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Harman Kardon surround sound system, and wireless smartphone charging.

The Competition variants also get the BMW digital key (which allows the driver to lock, unlock, and even start the car from their smartphone), carbon fibre gearshift paddles, and full leather ‘Merino’ upholstery.

In the options department, buyers can add carbon ceramic brakes for $16,500, a carbon exterior package for $9500, lightweight bucket seats for $7500, and either Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Pirelli P Zero Corsa track tyres, subject to availability, for $2000.

All cars have 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M forged alloy wheels as standard, while a choice of four available designs can be optioned.

Four different trim layouts are available at no extra cost, alongside a range of upholstery options.

Isle of Man Green and Sao Paulo Yellow colour schemes (used for the debut photography) are exclusive to the line-up, and are offered alongside Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Toronto Red, and Brooklyn Grey.

Last week CarAdvice reported on the extended M Performance option range for the line-up, however not all accessories have been confirmed for the Australian market.
