Honda US awarded ‘Greenest Automaker’ by Union of Concerned Scientists

Honda is the most environmentally friendly car maker in the US according to the Union of Concerned Scientists, USA. The company has just been awarded for the fifth consecutive year 'Greenest Automaker'.

The award was given to Honda based on the company's 'real world' CO2 emission levels, calculated as an average across the car maker's entire fleet. The study looked at eight of the major car manufacturers to sell cars during 2008 to come up with the overall greenest company.

Honda's fleet apparently produced 14 percent less emissions than the average bench mark set by the rest of the car makers that were studied. Honda has said the addition of the Honda Insight and Honda FCX Clarity contributed to the accolade.
