A big mid-life update for the F-Pace, with new designs inside and out, added tech, and mild-hybrid powertrains.

Jaguar has announced the updated F-Pace, with new mild-hybrid powertrains, extra tech, and lower prices.

The new F-Pace also gets a facelift, revealing slimmer LED headlights, revised tail-lights, and a new bonnet which eliminates the conspicuous shutline of the previous model.

Following the example set by the 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport, all variants offered in the Jaguar F-Pace range now exclusively come with the R-Dynamic package, which offers a more aggressive styling package.

Three models are now available in the range, being the R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, and the range-topping R-Dynamic HSE. While yet to be officially announced, an updated high-performance SVR model is expected.

Prices have been lowered across the range, with the entry-level R-Dynamic S P250 offered at $74,990 plus on-road costs – $2000 less than the outgoing rear-wheel-drive 2.0-litre R-Sport.

Buyers get a choice of three powertrains: the 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder 'P250' offering 183kW/365Nm, a 3.0-litre turbo petrol inline six-cylinder 'P400' with 294kW/550Nm, or a 3.0-litre turbo diesel inline six-cylinder 'D300' putting out 221kW/650Nm.

The entry-level R-Dynamic S is offered only with the P250 engine, mid-sped R-Dynamic SE with all three engines, while the top-shelf R-Dynamic HSE ships with only the P400.

Both six-cylinder 'Ingenium' engines come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, helping to reduce fuel consumption and improve emissions.

All engines are fitted to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is now standard across the F-Pace range.

The four-cylinder delivers the F-Pace to 100km/h from standstill in a claimed 7.3 seconds, while fuel consumption is reported as an average of 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres, with 209 grams of CO2 produced on average for every kilometre driven.

The diesel powertrain does the 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 6.4 seconds, with fuel consumption and emissions listed as 7.4L/100km and 194g/km respectively.

The 0-100km/h time drops to a claimed 5.4 seconds with the petrol six, and while fuel consumption and emissions figures have yet to be finalised, those numbers are expected to come in around 10L/100km and 230g/km.

Technology also gets a boost on the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace. Occupants can enjoy the company's latest 'Pivi Pro' infotainment system on the curved glass 11.4-inch high-definition infotainment screen.

The system offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, along with integrated apps from Spotify, Deezer, and TuneIn, while two different phones can be connected via Bluetooth simultaneously.

The system – which uses an independent power source for quick-starting – can also integrate with Google and Microsoft Outlook calendars.

Jaguar is keen to point out the system can be updated via 'Software-Over-The-Air' (SOTA), using multiple modems to ensure media streaming remains uninterrupted while software is being downloaded.

Passengers also benefit from engine noise cancellation and, according to Jaguar, segment-first active road noise cancellation. A new cabin Purify function includes air ionisation and PM2.5 cabin air filtration to remove odours and allergens.

Most notable for the updated F-Pace is the all-new interior – unusual for a mid-life facelift – with Jaguar paying particular attention to both the colours and materials used throughout the cabin.

Part of the new design includes the company's new drive selector, debuting for the first time on the F-Pace.

The driver also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, offering customisable three-dimensional navigation. The head-up display can also integrate navigation, speed, and incoming caller details.

All variants of the F-Pace get adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, rear collision monitor, rear traffic monitor, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive speed limiter as standard.
