2021 Nissan Navara facelift spied testing – UPDATE

The Navara ute is in line to receive Nissan's latest pick-up truck design language, with the updated expected later this year.

UPDATE, 15 October 2020: The 2021 Nissan Navara has been caught unmasked! Instagram account @cars_secrets posted photos of what appears to be a base-spec Navara – badged as a Nissan Frontier in parts of the Middle East and South America.

Higher grades of the Navara are expected to adopt Nissan's boomerang LED signature headlights, but the car spied here is fitted with halogen units, consistent with entry-level models.

The larger front grille follows design cues from the current generation of Nissan models, while the revised front bumper offers a more rugged look with the ability to option fog lights.

It's worth noting North America is expected to get a unique Nissan Frontier, specially designed for their market, which will be a different vehicle to the heavily updated Navara/Frontier shown above.

The official launch of the 2021 Nissan Navara is anticipated in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to CarAdvice on Facebook and Instagram to get the very latest.

12 September 2020:2021 Nissan Navara has been spied testing in Thailand before the covers come off later this year, with the camouflaged mule emerging on Instagram.

This time utilising Nissan's 'V-motion' grille and new boomerang LED signature in the headlights, the facelifted Navara will echo the evolved design language rolling out across the entire Nissan range in the coming year.

The 2021 model will likely be the last major update for the ute, which is expected to remain in production until 2024. By that stage, this particular Navara will have been in production for a decade.

Sales of the Navara are down 21.7 per cent year-to-date, compared with the same time in 2019 – only lagging slightly behind the whole-market decrease of 20.4 per cent.

This update can't come soon enough for the Navara, with competition intensifying thanks to brand-new Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 utes, and a recent update of the traditional segment-leader, the Toyota HiLux.

While power figures might get a bump with the facelift, powertrains are expected to remain largely unchanged from the current Navara, starting with a 2.3-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder with 120kW/403Nm or a range-topping twin-turbo version putting out 140kW/450Nm.
