2021 Maserati Grecale teased; new GranCoupe, Quattroporte and Levante to follow
The 2021 Maserati Grecale has been previewed by the Italian car company, providing the first official look at its upcoming mid-sized sports luxury SUV.
Sitting below the full-size Maserati Levante SUV, the new Maserati Grecale – named after "the fierce north-east wind of the Mediterranean Sea" – will share much of its architecture with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and will be a direct competitor to the Porsche Macan, BMW X3 M, and Mercedes-AMG GLC63.
It's expected the Grecale will be offered with the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 found in the Maserati MC20 supercar, unveiled earlier this week.
A fully-electric powertrain will also be coming, and like all future electric Maseratis, it will wear the Folgore badge – Italian for 'lightning'.
Grecale the first new model in a range-wide refresh
The Maserati Grecale will be unveiled in early 2021, ahead of the Maserati MC20 cabriolet and all-new Maserati GranTurismo.
Three new models will follow in 2022 and 2023, being the GranCabrio, Quattroporte, and Levante – all of which will be all-new vehicles.
Maserati's parent company Fiat-Chrysler is pushing to revitalise the brand ahead of its merger with Peugeot Group. The combined auto groups will create one of the largest car companies in the world, and will be named Stellantis.
