2021 Honda Odyssey revealed with hands-free door

An updated 2021 Honda Odyssey has appeared on the Honda Japan website, showing a facelifted exterior, revised interior and new tech.

Also new for the Odyssey is a hands-free automatic sliding door, allowing passengers to enter the car using nothing more than a gesture motion.

The door has a hidden light strip, indicating where to gesture in order for the electric door to open.

Inside, the 2021 Odyssey gets a much larger infotainment screen, slimmer air vents and a new steering wheel.

While the current Odyssey is offered with a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine putting out 129kW/225Nm and paired to a CVT automatic transmission, it's possible the updated model could get the 1.5-litre turbo engine from the Honda Accord with 140kW/260Nm.

Though an outside chance for Australia, the new Odyssey may even be offered with the 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain also found in the Accord, offering 158kW/315Nm.
