Brisbane Summer Auction goes old school

Last month we bought you news of the Melbourne Summer Auction and some of the classic Aussie Muscle that was up for grabs. Well now it's Brisbane's turn, and this time things are going old school.

Kicking things off, this 1928 Stutz BB Sports Tourer with its Weymann style fabric bodywork is surely the highlight of the auction. The vehicle is in exceptional condition and is a former concours winner. Bidding is on an open-reserve basis.

Next up, this rare two owner 1927 Auburn 8-88 Open Tourer is one of just 19 examples built. A seven seater, the Auburn boasts a 3.73 metre wheelbase and is expected to attract record bidding among vintage enthusiasts due to its combination of rarity and immaculate condition.

From another era, and perhaps one of Australia's most iconic cars, this former National Concours winning car, a 1953 FJ Holden Special Sedan, is one of a total of 30 vehicles to be auctioned.

Other vehicles include a rare 1972 Chrysler Valiant Charger R/T E49, a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T (with 440ci Magnum V8 and pistol grip 4 speed), a 1973 Plymouth Barracuda (340ci V8) and a handful of Ford Mustangs.

To be held on February 10, 2008 at the Brisbane International Motor Show, the Shannon's Summer Auction series is very popular with buyers and spectators alike. Any one wanting more information can view the cars in Brisbane from February 1 to 10 or contact Shannons.
