2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class spied undisguised, All-Terrain caught too

Next-generation C-Class snapped as Mercedes-Benz begins developing an All-Terrain wagon with the Audi A4 Allroad in its sights.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been snapped undisguised in a production facility.

A user posted this blurry, zoomed-in photo on Spanish website CocheSpias, showing a similar design language to the new S-Class flagship sedan unveiled earlier this week.

The all-new C-Class will replace the current model in 2022 – however, not seen before in the line-up is a C-Class All-Terrain wagon, which was spied testing in full camouflage.

Mercedes-Benz currently offers an E-Class All-Terrain, but the smaller C-Class All-Terrain likely designed to compete with the Volkswagen Passat AlltrackAudi A4 Allroad and Volvo V60 Cross Country.

This soft-roader C-Class wagon appears to have plastic wheel arch flares hidden under the vinyl camouflage, as well as raised suspension – both consistent with All-Terrain variants.

CarAdvice received the first reports of an All-Terrain version of the C-Class in October 2019.

It's likely the C-Class All-Terrain will share engines available in the rest of the range, but will only be offered with Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

A hybrid powertrain based on the company's updated MRA architecture is also likely.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is expected to be officially announced in September 2021.
