2021 Peugeot 5008 seven-seat SUV revealed
Peugeot's big 5008 family SUV joins its smaller 3008 sibling with a host of styling and technology upgrades for 2021
Hot on the heels of the facelifted 3008, comes the updated 2021 Peugeot 5008 SUV.
Like its smaller sibling, the seven-seat, second-generation (P87) 5008 was launched in 2017, and the update again represents the first significant change in the model’s lifecycle.
The 2021 Peugeot 5008 features a revised front end with a new grille and vertical running lamp signature, updated LED tail lights with animated indicators, and a range of new colour and trim options.
The new look brings the SUV more in line with the new Peugeot 508 sedan and wagon, as well as the forthcoming new-gen 208 hatch.
If you've read that and had a flash of déjà vu, then you should have, as the update to the 5008 basically mirrors that of the 3008. The larger car is essentially a long-wheelbase version, with a shared driveline and plenty of crossover components.
Here too, the 5008 name now sits proudly on the bonnet, with the Peugeot Lion taking center stage on the floating grille. Celebes Blue and Metallic Copper are two new colour options for a total of seven.
As on the current model, the GT-pack cars will receive unique styling components, including 19-inch “San Francisco” alloy wheels. An optional black trim pack will also be available, which includes unique 19-inch “Washington” style wheels.
Inside, the i-Cockpit instrument cluster has been updated to a 12.3-inch fully digital display, and the central touch screen is now a 10-inch unit, supported by a row of ‘shortcut’ buttons to access key functions.
Technology is further bolstered by night-vision pedestrian and animal detection that can ‘see’ up to 250 metres beyond the range of the high-beam headlamps.
Adaptive cruise control, AEB, lane position assist and traffic sign recognition are also included.
