F1 ace Nico Rosberg orders insane Rimac C Two all-electric hypercar

Former Formula One ace Nico Rosberg has ordered an all-electric Rimac C Two hypercar.

The 2016 Formula One World Champion has been test driving an advanced prototype – which is still in development – at the Circuit Paul Ricard in France.

He has also personally customised his own yet-to-be-delivered car at the Croatian manufacturer’s headquarters in Sveta Nedelja.

The company claims its C Two produces 1408kW and 2300Nm, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in under two seconds.

It has a purported top speed of 412km/h and a range of 647km.

It also achieves an 80 per cent battery charge in just 30 minutes via a 250kW plug-in system.

Those figures would be easy to brush off as fantasy, however they were independently verified by Porsche when it bought a 10 per cent stake in the company in 2018.

Hyundai and Kia also own shares in the company.

The car features a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, butterfly doors, carbon-ceramic brakes, and active aerodynamics.

Launched in 2018, just 150 C Two vehicles are planned for production.

They have already sold out according to Rimac.

Pricing starts at US$2.1 million (approximately AU$2.8 million), and buyers have reportedly spent an average of US$615,000 on options (approximately AU$840,000).

Customer deliveries were initially scheduled for late 2020, however have been pushed back to next year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2017 Richard Hammond destroyed one of just eight existing Rimac Concept One cars during filming for The Grand Tour.
