Multiple Mercedes-Benz models recalled due to seat latch, air-conditioning faults

Water condensation from the air conditioning unit could leak onto electrical components, potentially causing malfunctions relating to the airbag control unit, engine starting, fuel pump, and emergency call system. Limp home mode may also be activated.

A second recall for 232 examples of C-Class, E-Class, GLC, EQC, and GT models with the Model Year 2020 (MY20) require a fix to the rear seat latch.

In the event of an accident, items in the boot may strike the latch, causing the rear seat latch to fail.

Affected A-Class models were sold between 1 September 2018 and 30 April 2019, while C-Class, E-Class, GLC, EQC, and GT models with the rear latch issue were sold between 1 March 2020 and 30 June 2020.

Mercedes-Benz Australia says there are no known instances of the issues having affected Australian owners.
