2011 Toyota Yaris, Corolla get more value

Toyota has sweetened the deal with all Yaris and Corolla purchases, throwing in up to $2410 worth of extras.

The Yaris receives the bulk of Toyota's latest price sweetener, with pricing reduced by up to 5.5 percent, with the biggest price drop seen on the YRS 3-door and 5-door hatches, lopping $950 from their recommended retail price.

Value of the YRS is improved with around $1700 of extras, now standard. Yaris YRS receives a full complement of airbags, including side, full-length curtain and driver's knee airbag. The extra airbags are now also standard on the YRX.

Corolla follows similar suit with prices reduced by up to 3.4 percent. Reducing some prices to similar levels of yesteryear, the Corolla Ascent is now priced from $20,990.

In addition to the 3.4 percent reduction ($750), all Ascent models now come with a full complement of seven airbags, including side, full-length curtain and driver's knee airbag. In addition to extra airbags, the Ascent now also features rear power windows.

Corolla Levin SX hatches also receive the airbags, a value gain of some $1200. Corolla Levin ZR now features $2410 worth of extra value with a $910 price cut and a moonroof.

The Conquest receives a $610 price cut and moonroof as standard equipment.

With over 60,000 Toyota Yaris and Corolla hatches and sedans sold last year, it's any wonder they formed 29 percent of dealer's sales.

Toyota Australia's senior executive director sales and marketing David Buttner said Toyota was determined to ensure its vehicles were competitive on price and equipment levels.

"These moves significantly improve the value of Yaris and Corolla and send a clear signal to customers that Toyota is serious about competing and does not take its market-leading position for granted," Mr Buttner said.

"We have been able to make these changes - which represent improved value of up to nine per cent - with the help of our parent company in Japan.

"Toyota will continue to look for opportunities to offer customers the vehicles they want with competitive prices, competitive specification and competitive benefits such as Toyota's capped-price service - all backed by the quality, durability and reliability inherent in the Toyota brand."

As Australia's best selling small car for the past 10 years, we will be keen to see how Toyota differentiates the vehicles from their competitors as time goes by.
