2021 Skoda Kamiq price and specs

Details of the 2021 Skoda Kamiq have been announced for Australia, with deliveries to begin from September 2020.

Pricing for the small SUV begins at $26,990 plus on-road costs, with the range-topping Limited Edition variant costing $35,490 plus on-road costs.

Buyers will get a choice of three powertrain options: a manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic mated to a 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder, called the '85TSI', or a 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder '110TSI' with the seven-speed dual-clutch auto.

As the names suggest, the 85TSI offers 85kW/200Nm, while the 110TSI puts out 110kW/250Nm. Though not confirmed for local variants, overseas Skoda Kamiq models reportedly reach 100km/h from standstill in 9.9 and 8.3 seconds respectively.

But this is an SUV for the city, offering owners combined fuel consumption of 5.0 litres per 100 kilometres for the manual 85TSI, 5.1L/100km for the auto 85TSI, and 5.6L/100km for the more powerful 110TSI.

To put that into perspective, the 1.2-litre turbo four-cylinder Toyota C-HR offers the same 85kW of power as the 85TSI, but has less torque at 185Nm, and uses 25 per cent more fuel in a front-wheel-drive configuration. And you'll need an extra $2300 to buy it.

Standard equipment on the Kamiq 85TSI includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lights with animated turn signals, privacy window tint, rear automatic tailgate, double-sided luggage compartment mat, and a set of carpet mats.

Inside, the Kamiq 85TSI and Skoda provides a digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment screen, bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and electric, heated side mirrors with auto-dimming on the driver's side.

Standard safety tech includes autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, fatigue detection, rear parking camera with sensors, seven airbags, hill-hold assist, as well as traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, and electronic brake-force distribution.

For those wanting a little more, the 85TSI can also be optioned with a Driver Support Pack and a Tech pack.

The Driver Support Pack costs an additional $4100 and comes with leather/Suedia (a type of microfibre synthetic suede) on front and rear heated seats, electric driver's seat, Automatic Parking Assist, blind-spot detection, and Rear Traffic Assist.

The Tech Pack costs an additional $3800 and adds a 9.2-inch infotainment screen with voice control, an upgraded sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay, LED headlights with cornering ability, and animated front turn signals.

If you opt for the 110TSI engine, there is a choice of two variants: the Monte Carlo, or the Limited Edition.

Above and beyond the standard equipment of the 85TSI model, the Monte Carlo gets special black 18-inch alloys, black exterior badging and trims, panoramic roof, sports seats, sports pedals, LED headlights with cornering ability, fog lights, animated front turn signals, Drive Mode Select, and lower sports suspension.

The Monte Carlo can also be optioned with a Travel Pack for an additional $4300, which adds the 9.2-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, an upgraded sound system, steering wheel-mounted DSG shifters, heated front and rear seats, blind-spot detection, and Automatic Park Assist.

The Limited Edition gets the same LED headlights and indicators as standard in the Monte Carlo, but gets body-coloured exterior highlights, leather/Suedia front and rear heated seats, an electric driver's seat, a 9.2-inch infotainment screen with voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Automatic Park Assist with front and rear parking sensors.

Before the end of the year, wireless Android Auto capability is expected to be available where wireless Apple CarPlay is offered.

Metallic and pearl paint options cost $550, while a panoramic roof can be optioned on the 85TSI and Monte Carlo for $1300. A tow pack can be added to 110TSI models for $1200.

The Kamiq comes standard with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, but as reported this week, for a limited time customers in Victoria are being offered a free seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and three-year/45,000km service pack for vehicles ordered online and delivered before 31 October 2020.

The 2021 Skoda Kamiq is available to order now, with deliveries to begin from September 2020.
