BMW M3 Touring wagon may finally be in the works – report

BMW's M division may be developing a wagon variant of the upcoming 2021 M3 performance sedan.

According to a report from BMW Blog, a "trusted source" confirmed the performance wagon – to be known as the M3 Touring – has been given the green light for a 2023 launch.

The above render from @zer.o.wt provides a convincing look at what we can expect if the rumours prove to be true.

Rumours of a BMW M3 wagon have run hot and cold for many years, with the boss of BMW M, Markus Flasch, saying as recently as September 2019: "Touring estates are not part of our M plan".

This would be the first M3 wagon to make it to production, despite the German car manufacturer playing with the idea of an E46 M3 Touring back in the day.

An E46 M3 Touring prototype was developed for testing, but the project was discontinued.

The 2021 BMW M3 sedan and M4 Coupe is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
