Volkswagen Polo GTI at 2010 AIMS
Size certainly doesn't matter when it comes to little hot hatches. The new Volkswagen Polo GTI is now using a tiny 1.4-litre engine mated to a seven-speed dual clutch DSG transmission but it's faster and almost 25 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor.
They 1.4-litre engine makes use of both turbo and supercharging technology to deliver 132kW whilst using just t 6.1 litres per 100km (142g/km CO2 emissions). It weighs just 1189kg and can do the 0-100km/h dash in just 6.9 seconds.
Like the Golf GTI, the Polo GTI sends its power to the front wheels (only available with DSG) and also utilises a electronic transverse differential lock to minimise understeer.
As with all Volkswagen cars, safety is paramount and the new Polo GTI comes with ESP, front, front-side and curtain airbags and much more.
Other notable features include electro-hydraulic power steering, bi-xenon headlights with cornering lights, LED daytime running lights as well as corner marker lights.
Of course it wouldn't be a Polo GTI if it didn't get sport seats and 17-inch alloy wheels.
