It features a 5.2-litre V10, also seen in the Lamborghini Gallardo in some form, and outputs 386kW of power at an ear-piercing 8000rpm and 530Nm of torque at 6500rpm. All in all, it's enough to propel the car from 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
Audi says the car is not simply an Audi R8 with the roof removed, though. The company says it has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure the chassis stiffness and structural integrity remain very high, so the Spyder can still handle and grip as good as the coupe version. This means there's a reinforced aluminium space-frame construction underneath all that sparkling convertible flare.
Prices for the Audi R8 Spyder start at $376,000 for the manual, and $392,000 for the dual-clutch auto.
