Track-only Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 unveiled

The new track-ready Lambo will be limited to only 40 cars, and features the most powerful V12 to ever come from the Italian supercar company.

The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 has been unveiled in Italy, with the special hypercar designed purely as a machine for the track.

Production of the Essenza SCV12 will be limited to just 40, and will feature Lamborghini's most powerful V12 engine to date.

While the engine capacity has not been revealed, the Italian supercar maker says the V12 produces in excess of 619kW – overshadowing the power output of the recently released Lamborghini Sian Roadster road car, with 602kW from its hybrid 6.5-litre V12.

The V12 in the track-only Essenza (Italian for 'essence') is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox driving the rear wheels, with the transmission being used as a structural component within the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis.

Lamborghini claims the car produces more downforce than a GT3 race car, ensuring maximum grip for the slick Pirelli tyres fitted to the lightweight magnesium wheels. Braking is courtesy of Brembo Motorsports.

The Lambo comes with an exclusive membership to the Essenza SCV12 Club, giving owners access to race tracks across the world and opportunities to use their vehicles in their natural environment.

Owners will be tutored by the likes of five-time Le Mans 24 Hour winner Emanuele Pirro and Lamborghini factory driver Marco Mapelli at the 'arrive and drive' events, to be held at FIA Grade 1 circuits.

The program also includes storage at a specially-built hangar on Lamborghini premises in Italy, with webcams giving owners the opportunity to check on their cars at any time of the day or night.
