Toyota Prius MPV Alpha tease shot released

Toyota has released a glimpse of what the new Toyota Alpha will look like on its Facebook page. The tease shot shows the new car and its proportions up against a Toyota Prius to showcase the MPV body. The car will be heavily based on the Toyota Prius.

It will feature the same or similar hybrid powetrain but it's unclear if this model will feature a larger petrol engine. With the current Prius offering a 1.8-litre engine, reports speculate the possibility of a larger 2.0-litre engine to suit the larger body.

Toyota hasn't released any details of the car but we can expect three-row seating, suitable for seven people, as well as 50 percent more storage space in the boot compared to the current Prius.

With the heading of the billboard reading; 'The Prius family is getting a whole lot bigger', reports say the new model might be one of two new additional platforms the Toyota Prius range could be offering next year. It's unknown what the third variant could be.

The Toyota Alpha MPV is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2011.
