Rolls Royce Drophead: patent filing may have revealed new convertible
Patent images show a two-door Rolls Royce, complete with teak decking, suggesting this may be the new Phantom Drophead.
Images have surfaced from a Brazilian patent office showing what appears to be a new Rolls Royce convertible.
Revealed on the TaycanEV forum, the vehicle shows teak decking at the rear – reminiscent of luxury speedboats of the 1920s – and a detail seen on Phantom Drophead Coupe models.
The extended teak decking hints at the Rolls Royce potentially being a new Boat Tail model, taking its influence from the 1924 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Boat Tail.
The soft-top suggests it may have borrowed design cues from the Porsche Boxster Speedster, with the roof connected behind the C-pillars, creating a pointed accent at the rear.
While not much is known about the mysterious Rolls Royce seen in the patent filings, the brand is known to use its past as inspiration for future models.
