World’s fastest Mini flips in back yard stunt gone wrong

A limited-edition 2021 Mini JCW GP – the fastest and most powerful Mini of all time – has rolled in a backyard crash in Europe, within hours of the owner taking delivery.

The vehicle flipped and landed back on its wheels with less than 38km on the clock – and most of that distance was accumulated in the owner’s back yard.

The YouTube personality, who goes by the name ‘Pog’, has previously demonstrated his wealth – and an indifference to expensive and exotic cars – by playing golf off the roof of a Ford Mustang, doing a burnout in his Ferrari Superfast until the rear tyres were destroyed, and temporarily turning his Lamborghini Aventador into a driving game console.

The 20-minute video starts with Pog taking delivery of his Mini Cooper JCW GP in a shipping crate and, because of coronavirus lockdowns and travel restrictions, he decides to transform the garden of his semi-rural property into a makeshift race track.

After trying to improve his lap times, Pog eventually takes things a step too far, and the Mini trips in a ditch carved out from the previous laps.

After a complete rollover and landing back on four wheels – captured by his video crew – Pog repeatedly says he’s fine, before eventually lamenting “it was super fun, until it wasn’t” and “I wish I could rewind like in a video game”.

Upon reflection, he later says “I wanted to stop, a few times I said to myself ‘okay, that will do’.”

Pog appears to be based near the border of Belgium and France; on his social media accounts he says he frequently crosses the border. His fleet of cars display plates registered in Belgium. His videos are spoken in French, with English subtitles.

Pog describes his ancestry as being from the north of France and Poland. It is not clear where he made his fortune to afford his fleet of supercars – and a rare Mini.

The video appears to have been filmed in May but was not released until the past few days. Recent social-media posts show the Mini on the road to recovery, though Pog says the engine needed to be replaced after the incident.

Just 3000 examples of the 2021 Mini Cooper JCW GP edition will be built; Australia is due to receive 74 models from next month. All are spoken for and have customer names against them.

Australia will revceive a mix of track-only editions with no radio or air-conditioning, and ‘full spec’ editions with creature comforts installed. All models, however, have no back seats (to save weight) and will be registered as two-seaters only.

Drive

The fastest and most expensive Mini of all time is powered by a heavily reworked version of the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder from the Mini Cooper S.

The output of 225kW/450Nm – driving power to the front wheels via an eight-speed Aisin torque converter automatic gearbox, and a limited-slip differential – is a substantial 55kW/130Nm increase compared to the standard car.

The extra power, combined with a weight-saving program, has delivered a claimed 0 to 100kmh time of 5.2 seconds. If this is indeed achievable in real-world conditions, the 2021 Mini Cooper JCW GP edition will be one of the fastest front-drive production cars of all time.

You can the view full video by Pog below; if you want to skip the initial set-up and offbeat shenanigans, jump to about the 9 minute 30 second mark, which is when things start to unravel.
