Mercedes-Benz thinking of teaming up with Aston Martin

According to reports to come out of Europe, Mercedes-Benz might be working deals with Aston Martin to develop a new partnership. Mercedes-Benz could supply engines for future Aston Martin models. The partnership might also see the development of completely new models.

A recent report by Autocar announced the speculation and has even quoted Mercedes-Benz boss, Dieter Zetsche, as saying about possible collaboration,

"Smaller brands need help with new technology and it’s possible we could do things in the future."

Rumours say this partnership could range from simply supplying future Aston Martin vehicles with Mercedes-Benz engines and fundamentals, to as far as developing completely new models together.

Back in 2008, Mercedes-Benz was seriously considering buying a chunk of Aston Martin, with the possibility of providing technological aid. Those plans have since dissolved.

It's not clear what sort of time frame these companies are considering though. We'll keep you updated in any case.
