Australian pricing for the refreshed 2021 Audi RS4 Avant and 2021 Audi RS5 twins has been announced today, ahead of a July 24 showroom debut.

Both lines benefit from the same pencil-sharpening price improvements that have been rolled out across other Audi RS models in recent months, along with new styling and new technologies.

For the 2021 model year, the RS4 Avant wagon is priced from $147,900 before on-road costs – down from the $152,900 starting price attached to the hot wagon when it first appeared in early 2018.

The RS5 Coupé and RS5 Sportback are each priced from $150,900 before on-road costs, which is also a sharp shave of the $157,700 starting price announced in late 2018.

All three cars are mechanically unchanged, meaning there's a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 powering each, sending 331kW and 600Nm (1900-5000rpm) to Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 0-100km/h sprint is claimed to be covered in 3.9 seconds for the RS5 twins, and 4.1 seconds for the RS4 Avant.

Fuel consumption on the WLTP ('real world') test cycle is listed at 9.5L/100km for the RS4 and 9.4L/100km for the RS5s. Carbon emissions come in at 215g/km and 214g/km respectively.

As with the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback announced in early June, the RS4 and RS5 models get new 'RS1' and 'RS2' driving modes (are you keeping up?) that can be quickly configured "for specific high-performance settings".

Both lines get a styling makeover for the new model year, more significant for the RS4 Avant but no less obvious for the RS5 coupe and liftback sedan twins.

In both cases, there's redesigned LED signature lighting and new bumpers at both ends, but the RS4 also does away with the hooked headlight design that once dominated the brand's look.

Highlight equipment for these three heroes includes a head-up display, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go and traffic jam assist, park assist, Audi pre-sense front and rear, active lane assist, alarm and exterior mirrors with auto dimming functions.
