Concours d’Elegance Australia

Eye candy overload at Manly

There was some great driving at Bathurst yesterday, but if you’re more of a motoring enthusiast than a V8 Supercar fan, then you may well have been at the inaugural Concours d’Elegance Australia, at Manly’s historic St Patrick’s Estate.

On display at this spectacular Sydney location, was a truly outstanding collection of cars and bikes, valued at over $100 million dollars.

Classic motorbikes from the likes of Ducati, Norton and Triumph, were on display in absolute pristine condition and visitors could get up close and personal to each and every exhibit.

This was a prestige car show like no other, with the some of the finest examples of current and classic exotica, you're ever likely to see in this country.

From Aston Martin’s gorgeous DBS Volante to a DB4 and classic V8 Vantage, the whole event was eye candy overload for kids and adults alike.

The Jaguar D-Type replica was attracting lots of attention, as was the rare SS 100, along with several E-Types.

There were plenty of Lambos on display too, including two of my personal favourites, the Miura and Urraco, as well as a Murcielago and Gallardo.

Ferrari and Maserati were also well represented, with the latest 599 and Gran Turismo, but classics like the 288 GTO and Maserati Mistral, also featured at this event.

I seriously doubt there is a tougher looking muscle car than the exotic De Tomaso Pantera, certainly another favourite of mine.

There was a beautiful old 1921 Alfa Romeo G1 Sports Roadster, along with a classic 2000 Alfa Spyder and Fiat Abarth 1000

The organisers even flew out former F1 racer and five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell, for the event, who was in fine form and looking younger than ever.

I suspect this event will grow larger each year and organisers and exhibitors are to be congratulated for running such as classy and thoroughly entertaining show.

Enjoy the pics.
