2021 Audi Q4 e-tron spied in Europe, under evaluation for Australia

Audi's first mid-size electric SUV is nearing production, and it's on the cards for local showrooms.

The Audi Q4 e-tron mid-size electric SUV has been spied testing ahead of a slated unveiling in 2021.

Although camouflaged, the pictures reveal the Q4 e-tron SUV will remain true to the shape and proportions of the concept shown at the 2019 Geneva motor show, including the headlight and tail-light design.

While the latest electric Audi is yet to be unveiled, the German car maker's local arm has already expressed interest in it, telling CarAdvice the model “is under evaluation for Australia”. If brought here, the Q4 e-tron would join the e-tron in Audi's electric SUV stable.

In concept form, the Q4 e-tron is driven by an 82kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor on each axle, with a claimed driving range of 450km.

A 150kW/310Nm motor fitted to the rear is matched to a 75kW/150Nm unit at the front, making for a combined 225kW/460Nm. These numbers are good for a 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 6.3 seconds, according to Audi.

The company is yet to confirm these figures for the production model, but the same system was revealed this week in the Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback.

Confirmed in the reveal of the Q4 Sportback e-tron Concept this week, the Audi Q4 e-tron will come in at 4590mm in length and 1610mm in height – similar in size to the Audi Q5 SUV (which measures 4663mm long and 1659mm tall).
