Hyundai i30 N performance sedan: is this how it will look?

This computer illustration is the best guess yet as to what we could expect in the upcoming Hyundai i30 N sedan.

Hyundai's i30 N sedan has been imagined in the above computer illustration by NY Mammoth, posted on The Korean Car Blog.

Although the model is yet to be formally confirmed – despite spy photos of development vehicles – the Hyundai Elantra N, as it's known overseas, is expected to arrive in Australia in 2021 as the sedan variant of the Hyundai i30 N hot hatch.

As reported by CarAdvice in November 2019, the 2021 Hyundai i30 N range – hatch, fastback and sedan – is expected to see an increase in power from the current turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder (202kW/353Nm).

When the facelifted Hyundai i30N range arrives in early 2021, customers will also have the option of an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for the first time – as well as the current six-speed manual – to help broaden its appeal.

The 2021 Hyundai i30 N Sedan was spied testing in South Korea at the end of June 2020, with camouflage covering the distinctive Performance Blue hero colour offered on all Hyundai N models.

While the illustration at the top of this story is merely an interpretation of what we currently know of the i30 N Sedan, the design does incorporate Hyundai's new design language, including the sculptured 'pennon flank' sides and jewel-patterned front grille.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan N-Line has been revealed ahead of its release later this year, borrowing a number of sporty cues from the i30 N Sedan.

Despite new-car sales experiencing a slump in early 2020, the Hyundai i30 remains in the top-ten of the most popular models currently sold, and is second only to the Toyota Corolla in the small car segment.
